We are into the last week of 2024 and excitement is sky rocketing for Bharat Mobility Show.
As we have already discussed about the upcoming cars, there are two most anticipated SUVs! We are talking about the all new Skoda Kodiaq & the new MG Gloster. Both the SUVs rival the Toyota Fortuner but could not do well in their previous avatars. So, will these Upcoming 7-seater SUVs make a strong comeback with new versions?
Upcoming 7-seater SUVs – Skoda Kodiaq
Recently, sources confirmed that Skoda is all set to launch the all-new Kodiaq at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. The SUV received a major design overhaul in 2023 & will soon make its debut in India. But has it got everything to beat the Fortuner? Well, the new Kodiaq features new design elements like headlamps, front grille, bumpers and more. Now in pictures, it does have its own characteristics.
The interior looks super premium as it now gets many new features. Talking points of the SUV would be the new 12.9-inch touchscreen system & 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
Under the hood, the Kodiaq continues with the same engine option. It gets a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 188 bhp & 320 Nm torque.
This engine comes mated to a 7DCT gearbox option.
Now, it is said that Skoda will introduce Kodiaq via CKD routes which should help the brand to keep the price in check. That said, we expect it to be priced around Rs 50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
MG Gloster
Next we have the biggest rival of the Fortuner – MG Gloster. Now from biggest we mean the sheer size of the SUV! MG introduced the Gloster with an exclusive list of features at an affordable price. But, it just could not stand against the Fortuner. That said, MG is already working on a facelift which we in fact believed to debut before the end of 2024. However, it is now a possibility that MG has chosen to bring the new Gloster at the Bharat Mobility Show!
Just like the Kodiaq, the Gloster will undergo a major design change. We have already received multiple spy shots to support our claims. Some new changes include – new headlamps, new front grille, new set of alloy wheels & more. We also have spy shots of the interior showcasing redesigned dashboard layout & centre console. On the feature front, the already feature loaded Gloster could now come with rear ventilated seats and more!
What’s under the hood? Well, expect the Gloster to continue with the same engine options. It comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine – a single turbo unit (159 bhp & 374 Nm) & twin-turbo unit (213 bhp & 479 Nm). A 8-speed AT is the only gearbox option available. Overall, we expect MG to introduce the new Gloster next month – followed by a launch anytime in 2025!
